For fall sowing, no stratification needed. For spring planting, a 30 day cold stratification is needed. Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost date, or sow seeds directly outdoors after the danger of frost has passed. Plant seeds 1/8 inch deep in well-draining soil. Space seedlings 12-18 inches apart in a sunny location. Purple Love Grass is adaptable to a variety of soil types, including sandy or rocky soils. Water regularly until established, and then reduce watering as the plant is drought-tolerant.
