Foxglove 'Foxy Mix' is a charming and versatile heirloom variety that brings a touch of whimsical elegance to any garden. These compact plants, typically growing to 2-3 feet tall, produce tall spikes of bell-shaped flowers in a delightful mix of pastel shades, including pink, purple, cream, yellow, and white, all adorned with distinctive speckled throats. Its unique blooms attract hummingbirds and other pollinators, adding life and movement to your landscape.
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS:
Direct sow in spring after the last frost. Mix the fine Digitalis Purpurea seed with sand to ensure even distribution. Scatter the seed mixture thinly over the soil surface, and lightly water to avoid disturbing the foxglove seeds. Germination should occur within 3-4 weeks with a soil temperature of 65-70 degrees F. Thin or transplant seedlings as needed. This plant thrives in light, moist soil and partial shade, but can tolerate full sun with sufficient moisture. Consistently moist, well-draining soil is essential, as soggy conditions can lead to disease. Water thoroughly, especially during dry periods; a layer of mulch can help retain soil moisture. In its first year, foxglove will develop a low rosette of thick leaves; the flowering stalk will emerge in the second year.
Important Note: Foxglove is poisonous. Exercise caution and keep away from children and pets.
