$1.95 $3.90

This St John's Wort variety is grown for its medicinal uses and has the highest amounts of hypericin, the purple-red tinted juice that has holistic and medicinal qualities. In addition to being a widely used medicinal herb, this easy to grow perennial is a magnet for pollinators and especially provides great value to bumblebees. Growing up to 2 1/2 feet tall with flowers that are a little less than 1/2" across, it can present dark spots and streaks anywhere on the upper surfaces of the yellow petals at random. In addition, this St John's Wort has been used to create yellow dyes.

Planting Instructions:
Direct sow in the fall, pressing the tiny seeds in the surface of rich soil and sprinkling a very thin layer of soil on top; this seed needs light to germinate. Mixing the seed with a small amount of sand may help in seed distribution. For spring planting, mix the seed with moist sand and store it in the refrigerator for 60 days before planting. To start indoors, sow seeds in a flat, keeping the soil lightly moist and at a temperature of 65-70 degrees F until germination. Transplant seedlings outdoors as soon as they can safely be handled.
