Wisteria, American (Wisteria frutescens) - 5 Seeds
• Heirloom
• Open Pollinated
• American Grown Seeds
• Perennial Flowering Vine
• USDA Zone: 5-9
Adorn your landscape with the elegant beauty of American Wisteria! Unlike its more vigorous Asian counterparts, American Wisteria is much easier to maintain, making it a more manageable choice for home gardens. This beautiful perennial vine, which can climb up to 30 feet, produces clusters of fragrant, pea-like flowers in shades of purple and blue. While Asian wisteria is often associated with the longer bloom clusters, American Wisteria offers a more restrained yet equally beautiful floral display. It's a stunning addition to pergolas, fences, walls or even grown as a bonsai!
GROWING INSTRUCTIONS:
For best results, scarify seeds and soak them in water for 24 hours before sowing. Nick the seed coat with a file or knife. Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep in well-draining soil. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Provide a warm, bright location. Germination can be slow and may take several weeks to months. Transplant seedlings outdoors after the last frost, choosing a location with full sun to partial shade and fertile, well-drained soil. Provide sturdy support for the vine to climb.
