Description:
Ipomoea alba, sometimes called the tropical white morning-glory or moonflower or moon vine, is a species of night-blooming morning glory, native to tropical and subtropical regions of North and South America, from Argentina to northern Mexico, Florida and the West Indies. Prized for its quick growing climbing habits, this is perfect to hade an unbecoming fence, wall, and will climb through arbors and trellises.
Planting Instructions:
Growing Moonflower Vine from flower seed is easy, but requires a nicking of the seed coat with a knife tip or rubbing seeds with a piece of sandpaper . After nicking the flower seeds, place them in a bowl and soak overnight in warm water. Moonflower Vine seeds can be planted in any reasonably good garden soil that receives at least six hours of bright light during the day, but don't plant until the soil temperature has warmed above 55F. To get a jump start in the spring, the flower seeds can be planted indoors in a container. Transplant Moonflower seedlings when they have 2 - 3 leaves into the garden when the soil warms. The Moonflower plant will re-seed itself unless the flowers are deadheaded. Sow 2-3 seeds per plant, 1/2" deep.
